Note: Due to high demand, we are only able to extend emergency services to existing Sox & Freeman customers at this time.
Don’t Wait – Dead or Leaning Trees Are a Serious Risk
If a tree on your property looks like it’s about ready to fall, you should act fast! Falling trees are extremely dangerous and pose a major risk.
Current Sox & Freeman customers should pick up the phone and contact us ASAP.
What To Expect From Our Emergency Tree Removal Service

Site Assessment
The emergency tree removal process begins with a site assessment. Your certified arborist will assess the area for safety and determine what steps are needed to safely bring down your tree without causing any further damage.

Post-Tree Removal Cleanup
The job doesn’t stop just because your tree is no longer standing. When you choose Sox & Freeman nothing will be left behind for you to deal with – no piles of limbs or mounds of mulch! Your yard will be left as we found it!

Site Preparation and Tree Removal
We will prepare your property for the tree cutting process, taking all necessary steps to protect your home and landscaping. Depending on the size and type of tree we use a variety of different tools and methods for emergency tree removal.
Why Choose Sox & Freeman
Certified Arborists
At Sox & Freeman we aren’t just a few guys with chainsaws – we are ISA-certified arborists. This means that you’re working with tree experts who have the training, education, and experience to handle even the most challenging tree removals.
Long-term Relationships
Sox & Freeman has been in business for 75 years and some of our clients have been with us for three generations. Like the trees we work with, we take a long view of the world and prioritize developing long-term relationships over short-term gain.
An Ongoing Commitment to Training
We don’t rest on our laurels and are always training the next generation of arborists. At Sox & Freeman our non-certified crew members are given the time, training, and resources to become certified arborists via our Arborist Development Plan.
Top of the Line Equipment
We don’t cut any corners when it comes to our equipment and use only the best. This means that your problem tree can be safely removed without damaging your property – even in difficult to access spaces or for extremely large tree removals.
Tree Doctors, Not Lumberjacks
We love Columbia for its amazing tree cover and it is always our goal to preserve as many healthy trees as possible. Your problem trees will be safely removed – but when applicable we will also provide you with recommendations for non-destructive solutions.

So happy I chose Sox and Freeman. These guys were very professional. They called prior to removal date, on day of and they communicated throughout the process. Safety is always a concern when hiring tree services and they were extremely safety conscious.
Art Spaziano
I recently had them take down a sweet gum tree in my back yard. I was concerned that they would tear up the lawn in the process of getting the pieces removed. It turned out that they were super careful and had all the right equipment to remove every trace of the tree without any damage.

Just want to let Brent and the crew from Sox and Freeman who removed five pine trees from our yard know how very pleased we are with the job done. From the very first contact to secure an estimate to the final clean up of our yard, every phase of the job was handled with the utmost professionalism. The communication was great. We knew each step of the way what was to be done and how long it would take. These guys know their business. Very efficient, safety conscious, professional, and courteous. You won’t go wrong if you hire Sox and Freeman.

I can highly recommend Sox and Freeman Tree Service for any type of tree removal job. We had to have a 90+ yr. old oak that was about 70ft. tall taken down. William and his entire crew did an amazing job of taking the tree down without damaging anything in the yard! A small power line issue was handled promptly by Nick and resolved to our complete satisfaction. Expertly handled from the beginning to the end of the job! Well Done!!
Why should I work with a certified arborist?
At Sox & Freeman our crews always include an ISA-certified arborist. The International Society of Arboriculture sets standards for arboriculture (tree care) and requires training, testing, and continuing education to qualify for and maintain certification.
When you work with a certified arborist you can rest easy knowing that you aren’t taking down a tree that is healthy enough to remain standing, and that the tree removal process will be performed with skill and professionalism.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency tree removal?
At this time, we do not offer 24/7 emergency tree services. If you experience a tree related emergency and are an existing Sox & Freeman customer, please call us and we will do everything in our power to provide assistance.
Do you remove the felled tree and limbs?
Yes! Unlike many other tree service companies which may only take away the larger sections of trunk while leaving behind piles of limbs and mounds of mulch, you will be left with a clean yard free of mess or debris.
What areas do you service?
We offer professional tree services across the South Carolina Midlands and the surrounding areas, including Blythewood, Cayce, Chapin, Columbia, Irmo, Lexington, and West Columbia.
We are Located at: 3615 Phillips Street, Columbia, SC 29203
